WYC 054 – Youth Soccer - Chris Stricker - Changing the Culture and Winning 2 State titles

Today’s guest is Chris Stricker.  This is a really fun interview because Chris and I have actually have known each other since our college days at Ohio State.  Chris has gone on from there to leave Texas powerhouse Coppell high school to 17 straight years in the playoffs and won the Texas 5A championship twice, including most recently this past year.  Chris is constantly giving back to the game and has several very successful summer camps he runs as well..

One huge idea I took from Chris was in the 1st quarter when he shares the 4 pillars he built his program around. Another huge idea Chris shared was in the 2nd half when he talked about the importance of having your best players be your hardest workers. I hope you enjoy his insights and stories!

WYC 053 – Youth Baseball - Al Ainsworth - Coach Defense first

WYC 053 – Youth Baseball - Al Ainsworth - Coach Defense first

Today’s guest is Al Ainsworth.  Al reached out to me because he shares the same passion that I do – which is helping coaches and parents do sports the right way. Al is a teacher, an author, and a coach with over 16 years of experience – he recently combined all of this into the first of a series of 5 sports books titled ‘Coach Dave.’

One huge idea I took from Al was in the 2nd quarter when he talks about how to encourage the kids to make big ugly mistakes. Another huge idea was in the 4th quarter when he talks about a strategic time to teach defense.   I hope you enjoy his insights and stories!
